It is a criminal offense to use TV receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes without a valid TV Licence.

[my address]

Our records show that this address remains unlicened despite several requests for payment of the TV Licence fee.

As a result, this address was passed on to our Enforcement Division for investigation. They have listed the property for a visit.

Consequently, if any evidence is found of your watching/recording TV without a licence, you may be prosecuted.

WE CATCH AROUND 1,000 EVADERS EVERY DAY. IF YOU BECOME ONE OF THEM, YOU MIGHT FIND THE FOLLOWING ADVICE HELPFUL.

What to expect if you're summoned to court.
  • If the decision has been made to prosecute, your case is likely to be heard at your local court. You will be notified in a summons of time/date/venue.
  • You are not legally obliged to attend the hearing, but if you don't, you may be prosecuted in your abscence.
  • We will inform the court of the extended length of time that you have been unlicened, and also of the number of times you have failed to respond to our efforts to contact you.
  • We will present any evidence found of your watching TV without a licence, which may include a statement taken under caution by one of our Enforcement Officers.
  • These, among other factors, can be considered by the count in determining if you are guilty or not, and the amount of any fine.
  • If found guilty, you could face a fine, up to £1,000. In addition, you may also be liable for court and investigation costs.
  • And, even if you are convicted, you will still have to pay the TV Licence fee. A TV Licence costs £142.50 for a colour TV and £48.00 for a black and white.

Of course, if you have already bought a TV Licence, you need take no further action.
